Grapevine, TX – The Texas Bar Foundation awarded Justice For Our Neighbors North Central Texas (JFON) a $15,000 grant to support JFON’s Unaccompanied No More Program. The program provides free legal representation to unaccompanied minor children in the north and central Texas areas. The program helps children reunite with parents and legal guardians, helps the children navigate the complex legal system, and decreases the likelihood they will be deported back to countries where many were subjected to abuse, violence, and unimaginable living conditions. The program started in 2022 with grant money from The Permanent Endowment Fund of Moody Methodist Church in Galveston, Texas, and it has been further supported by the Texas Bar Foundation, the Immigration Law & Justice Network and money raised by JFON.
Ana Arellanos-Baeza, Legal Director at Justice For Our Neighbors North Central Texas, said: “We are so grateful to the Texas Bar Foundation for its generous grant to support our Unaccompanied No More program and our efforts to provide free legal representation to unaccompanied minor children in the geographic are we serve. This grant will help us continue this life-saving work that impacts the lives of innocent immigrant children.”
Since its inception in 1965, the Texas Bar Foundation has awarded more than $25 million in grants to law-related programs. Supported by members of the State Bar of Texas, the Texas Bar Foundation is the nation’s largest charitably-funded bar foundation.
